FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How soon do I have to book my move?
It depends on your flexibility. If you can move any time, we usually can accommodate you. However, we do have busier times and, if you only have one day to move, you should book your move as soon as you have a moving date.

How do I find out the cost for my move?
To determine the cost of your move, a representative will come to your home to see what has to be moved. The price is determined by:
  • the amount of furniture and boxes to be moved
  • the distance you will be moving
  • the type of building we will be moving in and out of
  • the labour and equipment required to perform the move.

Based on these factors, the price quoted will not vary more than ten percent. If you accept the estimate, a contract will be mailed to you.

Do you have insurance?
Yes. Any damage caused by Evergreen Transfer will be repaired or replaced by Evergreen Transfer at no additional cost to yourself.

Do you do long-distance moving?
We move anywhere within Ontario.

Do you have packing material available?
  • Unprinted newsprint is available. The cost for approximately 300 18" x 24" sheets is $15.00.
  • Wardrobe boxes are available for items hanging in your closets and are included in the cost of your move. These cardboard closets are two feet wide. If you require wardrobe boxes, they will be brought and taken away on moving day.
  • We have three sizes of boxes available (Cost: $3/box):
    Book size: 17" x 11" x 10"
    2 cu. ft.: 18" x 15" x 12.5"
    4 cu. ft.: 18" x 18" x 21"

If you are living in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, one free delivery is provided. Please allow two business days for delivery. For local moves, when the boxes have been emptied and flattened they will be picked up and $1.00 per box will be refunded at that time.

Do you have a packing and unpacking service?
Yes. The cost for packing and unpacking is $60.00 per hour per packer. If we pack and unpack, the cost of the packing material is included in the hourly cost. If we pack only, any boxes left at your new home will cost $3.00 per box. For local moves, when the boxes have been emptied and flattened they will be picked up and $1.00 per box will be refunded at that time.

Can I leave dresser drawers full?
Yes, clothes can remain in dressers drawers, but anything small, breakable or heavy should be removed. Sometimes long dressers need to be tipped on end to fit into an elevator. To prevent small items from falling out of dressers when they are being tipped, please pack these items separately into boxes.      Note: Please do not pack extra items into dressers drawers, as this can make them too heavy.

Can I leave filing cabinets full?
The contents of four-drawer filing cabinets must be packed into boxes. If a full filing cabinet were to be moved, the extra weight of full drawers could damage the filing cabinet’s frame.

What should I do with my large pictures and mirrors?
Large pictures and mirrors (ones that are too big to pack in a box) should remain on the walls. The movers will take care of these, wrapping them in blankets and putting them between mattresses on the truck.
